From Wednesday 6 July, at 6 pm, the Casina dei Mosaici in Herculaneum will host the RE-GENESIS II ACT exhibition by the Korean artist Jeong-Yoen Rhee which, seen in Naples for the first time in 2021 on the impulse of Ken Kim for Kips Gallery New York, he returns to the exhibition as a guest of the Ente Ville Vesuviane Foundation.
What makes the exhibition unique is the encounter between the artist and the place of exhibition: the Casina dei Mosaici known for being decorated with mosaics made with flakes of mother-of-pearl and porcelain from the Real Laboratory of Capodimonte that interact perfectly with Jeong-Yoen Rhee's precious painting known for painting without a brush, mixing colors with his hand and spreading them with his index finger.
The artist's particularity is also that of painting only with organic products including clay, volcanic ash, coal and gold dust, eggshell and above all mother-of-pearl and pink clay that they give a sense of mystery to his works of art. The same sense that is found in the mosaics that fresco the Casina dei Mosaici in Herculaneum. It will also be a surprise for Neapolitans to visit this jewel of the Golden Mile area overlooking the ancient Bourbon pier and compare it with the fascinating art of Jeong-Yoen Rhee.
"Compared to the exhibition presented at the Pan, immediately after the lockdown, - says the curator Paola de Ciuceis - this will be an opportunity to meet the artist who, at the previous initiative, was unable to arrive due to the strict anti Covid provisions . The charm of the place will play its part in making Jeong-Yoen Rhee's works shine by comparing them with the Bourbon mosaics. For many Neapolitans it will also be an opportunity to get to know a site of great historical interest
which is rarely visited ”.
