The project, conceived by architect Massimo Iovino, coordinator of the Urban Herculaneum Program, involved, with the collaboration of Jean Noel Schifano, ten of the best known and most important European sculptors (Miguel Berrocal, Mark Brusse, Lello Esposito, Alexandros Fassianos, Johannes Grützke, Dimas Macero, Denis Monfleur, Rúrí, Antonio Seguí, and Vladimir Velickovic) who, with the help of local craftsmen, were able to carve for the first time in history, the stone of Vesuvius. Their works were placed along the Road of this grandiose site without any lighting to avoid light pollution and damage to animal species. With "Creator Vesevo," Vesuvius, for centuries a totemic, religious and scientific site, leaves behind the role of tragic and terrible exterminator and dresses itself in art.
