Dispersed over an area of 8,482 hectares, the Vesuvius National Park was officially established on June 5, 1995 to conserve animal and plant species, plant and forest associations, geological singularities, paleontological formations, biological communities, biotopes, scenic and panoramic values, natural processes, hydraulic and hydrogeological balances, and ecological balances of the Vesuvius area. The Park territory is also part of the larger UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve ?Somma-Vesuvius-Golden Mile?, which also includes the archaeological areas of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
The pride of the Park and certainly major tourist hotspot is the Volcano Crater, which can be accessed through tickets that can only be purchased online at this link: https://vesuviopark.vivaticket.it/it
It should be noted that near the entrance the connection to the network is problematic and it is therefore recommended to complete the purchase of tickets before going up.
Entry through the automatic gate is allowed from half an hour earlier to one hour later than the selected time slot, subject to the requirement to leave by the closing time of the site. It should be noted that any latecomers will not be eligible for a refund.
For all other info (prices, hours, free admission, fruition protocol, etc.) please consult the appropriate section of the website https:
